Our Advantage
-
We provide high quality one-on-one tutoring services for an array of subjects and disciplines at a fraction of the cost of larger tutoring firms. You are receiving a more individualized and personal learning experience at a better value.
-
Our program can be molded to fit the needs and goals of each student. While the academic curriculum of the program is relatively uniform for standardized test preparation, the implementation, instruction method, and instruction frequency can be altered to maximize each student’s learning and performance. Each student will receive sessions tailored to their academic strengths and weaknesses. Subject tutoring is entirely unique to each student and what they are learning in class. Being a smaller business allows us to give you a more personal experience from the initial consultation through the student’s end goal.
-
Our instructors are college students or recent college graduates who function in a near-peer capacity with the students. This allows for the students to receive advice and guidance from people who were in their position much more recently than other teachers or tutors. Near-peer instruction has been shown to create a more comfortable environment for the student to learn.
FAQs
-
Both the SAT and ACT are accepted by most colleges in the US. The SAT allows more time per question and only has 4 sections (no calculator math, calculator math, reading, and writing and language). The SAT also provides a formula sheet for the math sections. In contrast, the ACT is quicker and includes an additional science section. There is also no formula sheet provided for the math section. The ACT questions are more straightforward, especially in the math section where the calculator is allowed for all questions. An assessment of the student’s strengths and weaknesses can help determine the best option.
-
A student can take either test at any time. The math section includes material through the beginning of precalculus, so taking the test before the student has finished Algebra 2 is more challenging. Typically, students will begin taking the test in their junior year, but more advanced students can take the test in their sophomore year.
-
You can take the SAT as many times as you want. The ACT allows you to test up to 12 times. Most clients only need to take 2-3 tests, and our goal is always to minimize the amount of tests needed.
-
Both the ACT and SAT allow superscoring, which is the combination of the highest score on each individual section from different test dates being combined to give the student the highest total across all of their tests.
-
No, most colleges will only consider your highest individual score or your superscore (with the notable exception of Georgetown University who considers all scores).
-
Certain candidates need to achieve a 24 on the ACT or an 1160 on the SAT to be eligible.
